2011 Tiffin Allegro Breeze: Class A Diesel Motorhome

Test driving the 2011 Tiffin Allegro Breeze
With Tim Renzoni and Bob Wagner.
Affordable and fuel-efficient, it's perfectly sized for the whole family to ride and sleep comfortably. Plus, the Breeze is easy to maneuver with responsive handling, so you'll command the road without feeling cumbersome. With smooth-riding air brakes, air ride, and rear Navistar® diesel engine—unheard of in a 28-foot model, you won't find a better engineered motor home, or a smarter space-making interior design, or more skilled craftsmanship.

Looks like a very nice ride. Maybe the right place to start for a first time RVer such as myself. From my research, Tiffin seems to be highly regarded - good reputation. The air ride, air brakes and rear diesel are all very attractive features. My only concern is the horsepower rating. Although I don't anticipate towing more than 5,000 lbs, would this unit be capable enough for trailering in a mountain environment - or would it be a real strain? Would I be better served looking at a used 34 foot RED? After all, the price would be pretty similar. Any thoughts?

I just got to test drive a Tiffin Breeze and I have to say I loved it! I was really thinking we'd have to go with a Class C RV since I would be the one driving the most, but this unit has won me over! From all of my research I do believe this RV would have enough horsepower to tow quite a load. We are planning on towing a Mini cooper and we are told we could load it with bricks and still have enough power to make it up hills. For the better mileage I'll stick with the Breeze. Thanks to David Wroblewski for taking the time with us, even though we aren't from around there and were just passing through. This was the first class A I had ever driven and if David hadn't told me to get behind the wheel I'd still be thinking I couldn't drive one. I was very surprised at how easy it was to turn corners and I felt like I could stop very quickly. After being in a diesel puller and almost buying one we are glad we made this extra stop. We will be much happier in a Breeze. Take care, Sue (the dw!)
