Colton RV adds O.P. location

Customer demand has prompted Colton RV to look to the Southtowns for a second location.
Jim Colton, vice president of his family-owned business, confirmed that Colton RV is leasing a vacant 6,000-square-foot former used car dealership from Jim Ball Cadillac along Southwestern Boulevard in Orchard Park. Colton RV will be opening its Orchard Park location by March 1.
By leasing the building from Jim Ball, Colton RV has ended a one search for a Southtowns location.
“We wanted to be closer to where a lot of our customers are,” Colton said. “This is a case of giving us a better opportunity to reach a big part of our customer base.”
The deal doesn’t impact Colton RV’s Wheatfield dealership, which has been on Niagara Falls Boulevard since 1982.
The new site will house between 100 and 150 units, Colton said. The units will run the spectrum from small tent campers to larger RVs and motorhomes. The dealership will employ six people, initially.
Colton RV had a location in the Walden Galleria for three years, but left the Cheektowaga mall in 2009.
Colton said the new site offers his company more elbow room to show off his stock of vehicles. The Jim Ball property includes a five-acre lot.
“It gives us plenty of room,” he said.
Colton RV was founded in 1962 in North Tonawanda.
