Washington Wants RVers To Pay More!

Late last week a proposal from the members of the Super Committee (Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction) included the elimination of the second home mortgage interest deduction (MID).
RVs qualify for a second home mortgage interest deduction because they are a very popular weekend and vacation ‘home’ for middle class Americans. The second home mortgage interest deduction serves as a powerful incentive for consumers to purchase American-made RVs. |

| More than 95% percent of the roughly 250,000 recreation vehicles (RVs) sold each year are manufactured in the United States by American blue collar manufacturing workers. The great recession eliminated more than 300,000 RV industry manufacturing jobs and significantly reduced the work schedules of even more. The industry is slowly recovering but would be significantly set back by this proposal putting many more American manufacturing jobs at risk. |
