Airstream Flying Cloud 27FB Twin Hatchback Overview

Today, we’ll be looking at the Airstream Flying Cloud 27FB Hatchback. This model is a popular choice among Airstream buyers due to its size and flexible features fit for families of all sizes and design to allow comfort to any destination. The Flying Cloud creates adventure and encourages personal style; With more floor plans than any other model and neutral color palettes to choose from, the Flying Cloud allows for great flexibility so you can find the perfect set up and then accessorize to match your personal preferences. In this review Wes goes over some of the features of the exterior and interior of the Flying Cloud as well as providing you with a few pointers to help you out along the way!

Airstream Flying Cloud Exterior

Stating with the exterior, the Flying Cloud offers many floor plans (as mentioned before) and one of the pro’s of the Twin bed setup are the extra storage spots on each side of the Hatchback. It comes with four stabilizer jacks, a tool for it, and a welcome kit. Additionally, the window awning package provides an awning on the whole length and off the back of the camper. The Flying Cloud also has a Massive Hatch at the rear giving you access to an abundance of fresh air, a huge area for storage (table is easy to remove) and a beautiful view for when you’re enjoying a meal with loved ones or just relaxing on your own taking in the scenery. When you close the hatch (as pointed out by Wes) you’ll notice the rear view camera so you can see what’s going behind you as you pull and park the camper. The doors are incredibly sturdy with locking mechanisms that are very secure and there is an extra screen door for pet parents. There’s ventiation on the side as well to filter out lingering air from the range top stove. Wis also points out that on the edges of all the lights and other pretusions of the Flying Cloud they use a Marine grade gasget foam to ensure that everything stays in place saving you a headache later down the line.

Airstream Flying Cloud Interior

Now for the interior, Wes makes mention once again of the dining area at the back hatch and how the table itself once deconstrcted can act as a second bed that can fit up to six people. (depend of size of course) In the dining area there are also some reading lights and easy to use black out curtains for when you want to block out the outside light. The Flying Cloud also provides you with a JL speaker system (some in the dining area and some in the bedroom) thats real easy to use and is bluetooth compatible. In models 2022 and older the camper will come with a DVD player and charging station and 2023 and up will come with a Streaming station that will allow you to use Roku, Firestick and other streaming devide brands. All of this can be found in the cabiants above the dining area which also have thick steel hinges that will prevent them from rattling while on the road.

In the kitchen you have ample counter top space for any appliance you’d want to bring. The sink is steel with a sprayer and plenty of storage space underneath it. The propane powered oven has a hinged glass top to cover the stove top when its not in use. It also comes with LED light up dials so you can see what you’re doing even in low lighting. The monitor station in the kitchen area tracks the voltage of the battery, fresh tank, gray tank, and black tank. The monitor alerts you when the tanks need attention, and the water pump button allows you to transfer water from the fresh tank.

The Flying Cloud design is called “quiet stream,” which includes a specially installed AC unit that is quieter than other models, and is covered with slits that can be adjusted to direct airflow. The Flying Cloud is well-insulated with eco batten insulation between the inner and outer aluminum shells, which keeps the trailer cool even on the hottest of days. The trailer also has two AC units, which can be identified by the rectangular cutouts in the ceiling. The trailer has many windows which let in a lot of light, but are also equipped with pull-down shades. The lights in the trailer are all LED and have a dimmer feature, and the battery disconnect feature alerts you with a beeping sound when the battery voltage is low, indicating the need to recharge.

The bathroom has a separate toilet and shower, with a decent-sized shower and a push-up vent and fan to help with ventilation. The bathroom also has a hot water heater system, which is simple to use and can heat water rapidly, and a control panel for the temperature. There is also plenty of storage space, a vanity with a mirror, a vent, and a porcelain toilet. Now for the bedding area which  Airstream provides two bedding options a queen or twin bed. (Wes recommends the twin bed for a longer bed and storage. There is also a second AC installed in the bedroom if you choose to have it. If not you would get another..fan-tastic fan (get it??) in it’s place.  A TV with its own controls to dim the lights is also provided.
